The music of Marley: “Redemption Song”
Perhaps the biggest testament to Bob Marley’s impact on the world of music is that the one time he sat down with an acoustic guitar and wrote a non-reggae song, it just happened to be one of the best — and most important — of all time. Everything about “Redemption Song” is iconic, from those simple notes plucked for the intro, to the quaint folk song structure, to Marley’s very Jamaican vocal style. This is really folk music at its best. What Bob Dylan made a living doing in the early 60s, Marley perfected for those three short minutes.
