Recommended for moderate use only: Flip-flops

Here’s an interesting blip from ABC News: Flip-flops can be hazardous to your health! How can they tell us this, with the summer season about to hit (this is, if we ever get through all this rain, and no, I’m NOT complaining)?
I’ve never been much of a flip-flop wearer, partly because I have a dirt driveway, and I like to walk in the woods or field when I got outside, and flip-flops just don’t protect my feet enough. My daughter, though, at age 23, is an avid flip-flop wearer, and I’m planning to e-mail her the link to this story, because she has had some leg problems, even at her young age.

Turns out, reading and listening to the ABC report, that it’s because of how we walk in flip-flops — both to protect our toes from getting stubbed, and to keep the shoe from flipping off!

We can wear flip-flops in moderation, they say, but if you’re having aches and pains in your legs, pelvis or back, you might want to go back to those stuffy old sneakers for a while.

Happy summer!
