Food, furniture and IKEA

I don’t know how anyone can go to IKEA and not be sidetracked for at least a couple of minutes in the food marketplace section. I know I was when we went to Renton yesterday. There are so many Swedish sweets and treats, I didn’t know what to do with myself. Instead of buying up the store, though, I ended up buying a huge chocolate bar and some Gille cookies. That’s it. No meatballs, no ginger cookies, no pickled herring.

IKEA cookies/Rochelle Feil 09/22/08In fact, I’ve never eaten the famous Swedish meatballs at IKEA. It seems like every time I go there, I’ve either already eaten or have made plans to eat after leaving the huge store. The first time I went to IKEA was with my whole family. While I was busy gawking at everything, my mom and brother sat down for a quick Swedish meatball snack. I needn’t tell you I was jealous.

Next time I’m there, I swear I’ll try the meatballs. If we had been planning to go straight home from IKEA yesterday, I probably would have bought the frozen ones. Brian told me my homemade ones were probably better anyway. I’d still like to know for sure.

I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the cookie purchase from yesterday. Those buggers are yummy.

Were those cookies really seven dollars?

Nope. They cost $1. Pretty good deal really. I got some again this weekend after exchanging a table on Saturday.
