Summer forecast: fires and voting
It’s sort of like the changing of summer to spring, in a newsroom kinda way. On Monday, we marked the end of the Washington State Apple Blossom season for The World’s newsroom as we put together the last big report on the festival. Now it’s time to look forward to the fire and election seasons.
We can use your help here.
The fire season may be a little late this year because it’s been so cool. But who knows for sure? A couple weeks of warm and hot temperatures, a thunderstorm or an unattended campfire, and the season could arrive quickly. One change you’ll notice this year is that our reporting will be more immediate. We’ll use wenatcheeworld.com to provide breaking coverage of fires across NCW and especially those in Chelan and Douglas counties. Our goal is to be the best source for fire coverage in the region. Let us know what you want to see online and in the paper World.
This summer, the political gods also decided to move up the election season. This year’s primary will be Aug. 19 with ballots going out a couple of weeks before that. The Secretary of State keeps a calendar of election dates. Click here to check it out.
What election races/issues should we pay attention to?
